Brooklyn Brewery + SoHo strollin’ + week 8 of marathon training

Things have calmed down quite a bit here. I spent the last week recharging after travelling, enjoying some down time at work, running a ton, and getting ready for my trip to Costa Rica next week – I’ll be there for 8 days with Michelle and I could NOT be more pumped!

In the meantime, let’s recap some fun shenanigans that took place the last weekend 🙂

Brooklyn Brewery + Williamsburg evening

Last Friday, Michelle and I kicked off the weekend with an evening at the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg. There’s a large room with open seating, and you can purchase coins to be redeemed for the various Brooklyn Brewery brands of beer. It’s also BYOF, so we purchased sandwiches from a nearby deli and had a lovely indoor picnic with some refreshing beer.

Although we didn’t take the tour, it was one of the most impressive breweries I’ve been to, especially for being in a city. I completely recommend it for New Yorkers out there!

Afterwards, we took a walk along the East River – the Brooklyn side is especially beautiful since it has a view of the Manhattan skyline. It was the perfect night in the mid-60s, and we so enjoyed a chill evening filled with each other’s company and chatting away about our excitement for Costa Rica. I don’t spend much time in Williamsburg, but after this lovely evening, I definitely want to spend more time here!

Australian brunch + SoHo afternoon

The following afternoon, I met Trish for brunch in west village at a brand new spot called Banter. It was the quintessential charming NYC brunch spot, and all the waiters were Australian! I especially loved the well-lit ambiance with windows wide open, letting the perfect weather & breeze filter in.

We ordered matcha lattes, nutella french toast, and sweet potato hash on toast (keeping in mind carbo-loading for my race the next day). SO YUMMY!

Afterwards, Trish and I did our favorite activity together: shopping + afternoon tea. Trish is the queen of finding awesome sample sales, and we hit up two in SoHo. A lovely, low key afternoon was just what we needed ❤

Week 8 of marathon training

Monday: REST

Tuesday: 5 miles easy (10:00 pace) along the East River. Legs were a bit tired from the previous long run, but overall felt steady.

Wednesday: 8 miles easy (10:05) along the East River. Legs still felt heavy from the long run, but I did not make it an option to quit. Happy to reach 8 miles on a week day run!

Thursday: REST

Friday: 5 miles easy (10:04 pace). Absolutely the most beautiful day of the year. I finally felt like my legs had energy again and I was tempted to push the pace, but I held back knowing that a race was this weekend.

Saturday: REST

Sunday: 13.1 miles half marathon PR! See my race recap HERE
